Hello everyone and happy new year! This week was another fantastic one, I am loving life so much lately. Life in Nottingham is great, and I have been meeting the most amazing people and having the greatest experiences.

Some highlights:

New years eve we had to be in at 6pm, so we were just making a bunch of calls. We called our investigator Lemon (I think I already told you how Chinese people pick their own English names, and sometimes they are pretty great) and asked how her prayers went about the Book of Mormon and everything that we have taught her. She told us that she got her answer, and she is ready to be baptized! It was such an amazing moment. We saw her the next day and talked a lot about it and she is just so solid and is the sweetest person on the planet. She will be getting baptized on the 18th of January, so we are very excited!

We have been teaching a girl from Trinidad And Tobago who is really cool, named Ariel. We have become good frineds with her and she is doing really well with everything that we are teaching her. She is definitely one of my favourite people I have taught.

Leon and Jia Jia should be getting back from China this week, so we are excited to start teaching them again and get things ready for their baptisms. I am loving life, and these next few weeks should be excellent.

Other than that, I can barely remember what else happened, everything goes by way too quickly. I just want you all to know that I am so happy and living the principles of the restored gospel is the greatest way to happiness. As we teach about God’s commandments for us, I just realize more and more how God truly knows best, and has laid out guidelines for us to live the most abundant life. As we follow His commandments and His counsel, we will achieve the most happiness, and will be able to see His promises fulfilled.

Well, I love all of you very much, thank you for all that you do for me. Have a great week!

Love, Elder DeBeikes

One Response to HAPPY NEW YEAR! Ariel, Lemon, Leon & Jia Jia(Week 76)

  1. Karen Greding says:

I was thinking about your upcoming baptism and the experiences you had that led up to that. A friend of mine, Grace, is being taught by our Sister missionaries and I have been able to be to most of those discussions. At first Grace did not want them to teach her but enjoyed their visits, a song and prayer. Finally she agreed, but the feeling was that it was for information and perhaps to do me a favor. As each lesson progressed we saw that she feels good about our church and the people that she has met, but still there was a disconnect about her having any serious ideas about her being in this church. Finally the missionaries gave her a Book of Mormon since Grace had lost hers in the move, and she actually read to Chapter 12 in 1 Nephi. That is when we noticed a change in her attitude. You could tell that something was different about the way she felt. This book really can change lives if people will read and pray about it sincerely. I still have my doubts that she will be baptized, but I was happy to see the change in her.
We are so happy for your success and your obvious love of your mission.
    Sincerely, Karen Greding
