Hello once again, Happy November! This week was crazy hectic. So on Tuesday, we did an exchange with a team in Lincoln, which is about a 45 minute drive from Nottingham. we drove there, exchanged, then drove back, only to realize that Elder Matheus still had the phone with him in Lincoln, so he had to drive straight back, and by that time traffic was picking up. All in all, I was driving basically from 10am to 3pm. How miserable. Anyway, that same night, we get a call from President Rasmussen telling us that Elder Hall flipped over his handle bars going downhill on his bike and was on his way to the hospital, and that we would need to go visit him. We got there at about 9pm, and didn’t leave until about 2am. He will be completely fine, no serious injuries, but there was just a lot of waiting. we had to take them home, then didn’t get back until about 3am. Safe to say it was exhausting, but it made for a good memory.
On Thursday, I went on exchange with Elder Hall so his companion could get out of the flat, and he and I spent most of the day in the hospital for a follow up visit. I have spent more time in the hospital the past week than I have in like two years.
Through all the hospital madness, we have somehow managed to continue to find new people to teach, along with teaching some people who are really progressing at the moment, which is very exciting. I love teaching the gospel so much, especially when I see how much people can get out of the simple fundamentals of the gospel that we so easily take for granted on a daily basis. when we teach someone how to pray for the first time, it just makes me appreciate it so much more. I am so grateful for all of these amazing opportunities that I am able to learn and grow from every single day.
This week is transfer week, and President Rasmussen pretty much told us that Elder Matheus is leaving, so I will be getting a new companion on Wednesday. We will find out exactly what will be happening later tonight. I am excited for a change, it should be interesting.
I have really been enjoying my mission lately, and I am so grateful for all of your love and support. Have a fantastic week!
Love, Elder DeBeikes
