Subject: NEW COMPANION
Okay, so Elder Swinemar has officially left Loughborough. it was sad to see him go, he and i had so many great times together, and i will always look back on these memories as some of the best times of my life. I picked up Elder Hunter, who is also from Canada (Alberta), on wednesday. He is really cool. he has been out for 6 months. it is funny, he was actually companions with Elder Smith in the MTC. He and i get along really well, and we are enjoying our time together so far.
So a highlight from this week would be when we taught Vida, and she told us that she feels like she needs to show her faith by being baptized. it was really amazing to hear her say that, because we have been working so hard with her and praying for her so much. it has been amazing to see the power the Book of Mormon has had on her, combined with the spirit. She then came to the baptism that we had on Saturday. three people got baptized, and she really enjoyed the service. As i was sitting next to her at the end, she told me that she felt like crying, and i asked her why. she said that she just felt so overwhelmed, and then said “i just feel like i really need to do this.” when she said that, it was so powerful. it has been amazing to see her progress and grow in her faith. I am so grateful for little miracles like that on my mission. Little experiences like that here and there have added up to the mission being the best thing i have ever done in my life, and i am so happy that i am here. I can’t imagine if i didn’t serve a mission, so many things would be different, and not in a good way.
I love you all, thank you so much for your constant love and support, and i hope you have a fantastic week!
Love, Elder DeBeikes
