Subject: Three Chinese Guys
hello everybody! i have to say, this might have been my favorite week on the mission so far. i am absolutely loving life. Elder Harris and i have been having a ton of fun and have been working really hard, with more success than i have had so far. we have literally been talking to everyone we see, and it has been working out very well. we had two people at church yesterday, which is more than i have had so far. it was awesome. one of the investigators is a 19 year old student from romania, who had such a wrong idea about mormons, and after we had our first lesson with him, he realized how wrong he was. he loved church, and we are going to meet with him again this week. he is really cool, and i am praying for the best with him. we have gotten at least 4 potentials a day, which is really good. i feel like i have been able to be myself a lot lately, which is a really good feeling, and that is how i think it should be. we don’t have to change who we are in order to share the gospel. just be who we are, and have normal conversations with people and somehow there will be an opportunity to bring up the gospel. but we do have to pray for those opportunities, or at least to recognize those opportunities. i have been finding true joy through sharing the gospel with everyone that i meet. i didn’t expect to be this happy just from talking about the gospel and what i believe. so one thing that was really interesting this past week, we taught two chinese guys, and we brought a chinese member with us to help translate. whenever the guys didnt understand us, the chinese member would explain it to them in mandarin. it was crazy, they would be speaking in mandarin for like five minutes, then elder harris and i would look at each other and be like what the heck are they saying. we aren’t sure if they really had a good idea of what was going on, because the chinese member was only baptized two months ago. but then we asked one of them to pray, and he did, but it was in mandarin. the three chinese guys all started laughing really hard during his prayer, and we were just sitting there having no idea what was going on. so it was probably my most interesting lesson so far. i don’t know if we will ever see those guys again though, they didn’t seem too interested…but it was an experience to say the least. anyway, i am loving life, and enjoying england and coventry more and more everyday. i love the rain, it is really awesome. apparently its going to rain almost everyday until april, so i am pretty excited about that. anyway, my testimony grows every single day that i am out here, and i love helping people out so much, it brings such happiness. i love you all and have a great week!
Love, Elder DeBeikes
