Subject: Hello Again!
Hello again! can you believe it has already been another week?? time is flying by. this past week was a really good one. it has started to really rain here, and everyone who lives here says that it should be like this until about april, so things should be really interesting now. but we were able to teach quite a few lessons, and they all went pretty well. this one guy named john came to church with us, and it went really well. we also had dinner at a member’s house every single night of the week, so it was awesome. there wasn’t really a whole lot that happened, it was a pretty normal week. but i am doing well, i still love teaching people, and i love feeling the spirit all the time. i have gotten to know the ward really well, and they are all awesome, except for a few crazy people, but they are great as well. it’s really cool to see the phrase “the church is the same no matter where you go” actually applied to my own life. i am continuing to learn about the gospel, and it is crazy how much there is to learn, but i absolutely love everything i learn about it. so there is this one guy in my ward who was bearing his testimony, and he is really really smart, and i really liked something he said. he said “i can think up a million different logical ways to prove that the church shouldn’t be true, and i am sure that if i really wanted to i could convince myself that it isn’t, but when it all comes down to it, the spirit tells me that it is true, and i know that i can’t deny it.” i thought that was really cool, because it’s true, when people try to bring pure logic into it, it doesn’t work, but when you receive a testimony from the spirit, it is absolutely undeniable, and it just becomes a knowledge, not even a belief. i love the gospel, i really do, and i know that if we continually follow its principles we can make it through anything. sorry this isn’t as long as usual, but i hope you all have another great week!
Love, Elder DeBeikes
